Matthias Höfs
Early Start and Education
When he was six years old, Mattthias Hoefs received his first trumpet and played in the wind band of the sports club of the city of Luebeck, Germany.
Beginning in 1975, when he was just ten years old, he began studying the trumpet with Professor Peter Kallensee. In 1982 he enrolled at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, Germany, where he continued his studies with
Prof. Kallensee.
In 1984 he moved to Professor Konradin Groth at the Karajan-Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He graduated with distinction.

Profession: Trumpeter
From 1984 to 2000, Matthias Hoefs was solo trumpeter at the Philharmonic State Orchestra, Hamburg, where he is still a very welcome guest player.
Since then, Matthias Hoefs is often invited by renowned symphonic orchestras, among them the Berlin Philharmonic - and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a highly recognized soloist, he has given concerts in nearly all continents.
Since 2000, Matthias Hoefs has been appointed as Professor for Trumpet and Chamber Music at the University for Music and Theatre in Hamburg.
He is also internationally in demand as guest-professor, e.g.
at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow, Russia

A focus of his musical activities is the regular engagement with the internationally well-known brass ensemble GERMAN BRASS with whom Matthias Hoefs has played since 1985. There he arranges, together with Enrique Crespo, a repertoire
ranging from classic to jazz.
CD Production
In addition to the common baroque and classic repertoire for trumpets, Matthias Hoefs interprets contemporary works. Highly regarded composers, such as Eino Tamberg, Peter Lawrence, Christian Muehlbacher, Dieter Einfelt and Enrique
Crespo, have
arranged and composed works especially for him. He has inaugurated these works together with various orchestras and ensembles, among them the Hamburg Philharmonic Soloists.
